Supportive and solution-focused care.
Therapy provides a safe, nurturing partnership intended to help you learn, heal and grow.
There are so many issues to navigate as a young adult. Therapy provides an outlet to talk about what’s going on in life and develop tools for support without feeling judged.
Communities grow together. Workshops, parenting classes, and professional development opportunities are offered to help us learn together in fun, interactive environments.
Most people come to therapy at a time of conflict or crisis. The conflict may be with our spouse or family. Perhaps a child is acting out or the couple is considering separating. Or, the crisis may be an individual issue that has become overwhelming and it is time for a change.
Therapy certainly can help in times of crisis, but in many cases, prevention is the best medicine. Seeking therapy before problems become out of control can help defuse them. Clients can learn coping skills to help sort through issues while they are still manageable.
Most of our lives are hectic and you may think, “I don’t have time for therapy.” In reality, therapy is one of the few times where we can take a break from the craziness of our daily lives and focus on improving ourselves. This leads to a better quality of life for us and our families.
Each of us has something we could use some help with, whether it’s learning to listen better, be more assertive, or gain more confidence, and psychotherapy can help achieve those goals.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Together, we can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Couples counseling sessions are a supportive place to discuss challenges and solutions to better guide your relationship.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado and have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. I have over 20 years experience practicing mental health in a wide range of settings such as inpatient hospitals, residential treatment centers, correctional facilities, and schools. I've worked in direct service and management, most recently as Executive Director at San Miguel Resource Center.
I love our community and believe we are stronger when we work together. I am committed to expanding and enhancing mental health services in our community. I served as the president for the Board of Directors at The Center for Mental Health, our region's community mental health center. In addition, I served on the Board of Directors for Telluride Foundation. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Axis Health Systems, the San Miguel Behavioral Health Solutions Panel, the San Miguel Behavioral Health Collaborative, the Suicide Prevention/Awareness/Recovery Coalition, and the Key Leaders board for the Telluride Communities that Care Youth Initiative.
I am quick to smile. I truly enjoy connecting with people and supporting their journey. I also think it is important to laugh, even when it may not seem "appropriate." I bring that inviting warmth and humor into therapy sessions. I believe that a good match between client and therapist is critical to a successful therapy experience. I welcome feedback on ways to improve the experience for you, and will gladly connect you with someone else if you feel we are not a good fit. After all, this is all about you.
