Most people come to therapy at a time of conflict or crisis. The conflict may be with our spouse or family. Perhaps a child is acting out or the couple is considering separating. Or, the crisis may be an individual issue that has become overwhelming and it is time for a change.
Therapy certainly can help in times of crisis, but in many cases, prevention is the best medicine. Seeking therapy before problems become out of control can help defuse them. Clients can learn coping skills to help sort through issues while they are still manageable.
Most of our lives are hectic and you may think, “I don’t have time for therapy.” In reality, therapy is one of the few times where we can take a break from the craziness of our daily lives and focus on improving ourselves. This leads to a better quality of life for us and our families.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado and have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. I have over 15 years experience practicing mental health in a wide range of settings such as inpatient hospitals, residential treatment centers, correctional facilities, and schools. I've worked in direct service and management, most recently as Executive Director at San Miguel Resource Center.
I love our community and I believe we are stronger when we work together. I am committed to expanding and enhancing mental health services in our community. I am currently the president for the Board of Directors at The Center for Mental Health, our region's community mental health center. In addition, I serve on the Board of Directors for Telluride Foundation. I also sit on the San Miguel Regional Behavioral Health Commission and the Key Leaders Board for the Communities that Care Youth Initiative.
I am quick to smile. I truly enjoy connecting with people and supporting their journey. I also think it is important to laugh, even when it may not seem "appropriate." I bring that inviting warmth and humor into therapy sessions. I believe that a good match between client and therapist is critical to a successful therapy experience.
